Treatment in the genital area is a matter of trust. That is why we discuss specific complaints and possible restrictions in detail during a non-binding, confidential consultation. If the customer decides to undergo treatment at the prevention-center Zurich, an examination by the treating gynecologist should precede this. No skin incisions or stitches are required for the minimally invasive procedure. As the treatment is largely painless, no local anesthetic is usually required. The individual laser units only take a few minutes and can be performed on an outpatient basis.
During the actual treatment, a rod-shaped laser is inserted into the vagina. The MonaLisa Touch® laser emits laser beams in a 360º radius that gently penetrate the tissue. The laser scans the entire vaginal mucosa through targeted continuous movement, thus achieving a complete and lasting result.

After vaginal laser treatment
As a rule, clients can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. However, we recommend abstaining from sexual intercourse for 2 – 3 days to ensure a successful course of treatment. Of course, we inform our clients in detail about all the important rules of conduct after the procedure. The number of laser sessions required for optimal treatment success depends on various factors. Every woman is different and has different physiological conditions. In addition, every woman responds differently to the therapy. The majority of clients can look forward to a noticeable improvement in their quality of life after just one treatment. Others need a complete laser cycle of 3 – 5 sessions to achieve the desired treatment goal. After the first laser treatment, we at the prevention center can assess whether and how many further sessions are required. There are usually 4 – 6 weeks between the individual treatment appointments. In order to maintain the results achieved in the long term, an annual refresher treatment is recommended.
Vaginal laser: risks & side effects
Laser treatment with MonaLisa Touch® is low-risk. After the procedure, slight swelling and redness may occur in the vaginal area, which usually subsides after 1 – 2 days.

General information on vaginal tightening
What is MonaLisa®?
MonaLisa® is the name of a laser that was the first in the world to be developed to tighten the vaginal mucosa from the inside. We were one of the first clinics in Europe to use this laser, as it has been proven to be the best in the world.
What is the laser used for?
On the one hand, the laser is used to optimize aesthetics. On the other hand, there are of course also medical reasons why such treatment makes sense, for example if the mucous membrane has receded due to underlying diseases.
When is vaginal laser treatment an option?
A vaginal tightening is suitable for women who want to improve the aesthetics of their intimate area as they feel increasingly uncomfortable. Many women also opt for a vaginal tightening as this can increase sensation and thus improve their sex life.
Is the laser only intended for older women?
There are also younger women who opt for a MonaLisa® treatment after pregnancy in order to tighten the vaginal canal again. However, there are also certain diseases or medications that cause the vaginal mucosa to dry out, which can be remedied by using the laser.
What are the advantages of a vaginal tightening with laser?
The short treatment procedure does not require any anesthesia, incisions or major downtime. Most women are socially acceptable again immediately after a laser vaginal lift, while others take a short break of around two days. Laser treatment carries no risks and is generally free of side effects.
Are there any risks or side effects?
The MonaLisa® treatment is generally free of risks or side effects. Short-term swelling or redness may occur after the laser treatment, but this will subside quickly on its own.
Vaginal tightening procedure
What do I need to consider before treatment?
Before MonaLisa® treatment, it is important that a gynecological examination is carried out to determine whether there is an underlying disease that is causing dryness of the mucous membranes. The laser cannot be used during menstruation or in the case of established illnesses.
How does the treatment proceed?
In our clinic, vaginal tightening is performed by laser assistants. A treatment head containing a small probe is inserted into the vagina. This probe contains a prism that focuses the laser beam onto the mucous membrane. The laser beam creates tiny holes in the vaginal mucosa, which generates new tissue. By activating collagen and thickening the mucous membrane, the vaginal canal is tightened.
Do I need anesthesia for the treatment?
The treatment takes a total of 15 minutes, of which the laser treatment itself takes about five minutes. No anesthesia is required during this short treatment.
How many sessions are necessary for the MonaLisa vaginal tightening?
We recommend a laser cycle consisting of three to five sessions to fully develop the vaginal tightening. These are carried out at the prevention center at intervals of four to six weeks. Following this, we usually recommend that our clients have an annual refresher treatment.
Aftercare for a vaginal tightening
Are there any restrictions after treatment with MonaLisa®?
After the MonaLisa® vaginal tightening procedure, you do not have to expect any major restrictions, except that you will have to abstain from sex for two days.
When can I return to sport after a vaginal tightening?
After your vaginal tightening, you may need to take up to four days off from sporting activities. However, this depends on how you feel and can be decided on an individual basis.
When are the treatment results visible and how long do they last?
As a rule, the first results are noticeable immediately after the first session, but the full effect of the treatment only unfolds after the last session in our clinic. We recommend an annual refresher of the treatment results.
Financing
Does health insurance cover the costs of a MonaLisa® vaginal tightening?
The health insurance company partially covers the costs of laser treatment with MonaLisa®, but this is rarely the case. For this, the customer needs a letter from her gynecologist confirming the need for treatment.
