Further information
All medical treatments require prior consultation. A personalized estimate can be drawn up following this consultation.
A decrease in the elasticity of the connective tissue or severe weight loss can lead to an unsightly accumulation of excess skin on the thigh, which hangs down when the leg is lifted or when standing. This can be corrected surgically with a thigh lift. Depending on the extent of the findings, the lift can be performed using liposuction, and the excess skin must be surgically removed, especially after extensive weight loss.
Advantages of a thigh lift at the prevention center
- Years of experience in thigh lift surgery
- Comprehensive advice & planning of the procedure
- Customized treatment techniques for an overall aesthetic appearance
- Precise definition of the later scar
- Highest hygiene and quality standards
Before the thigh lift
A comprehensive consultation will take place at the prevention-center Zurich before the procedure. For a period of approx. 14 days before the operation, you should refrain from taking medication containing acetylsalicylic acid (e.g. aspirin, ASA, etc.), as this impairs blood clotting. You should also avoid alcohol, cigarettes and sleeping pills as far as possible. Nicotine can reduce blood flow to organs and delay wound healing. You should therefore avoid nicotine for two weeks before the operation and during the wound healing phase.
The thigh lift
The procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia with twilight sleep, or under general anesthesia for very pronounced findings. Liposuction can be used to achieve a tightening effect through two to three small incisions (groin, inner thigh). In the case of pronounced excess skin, the excess skin on the inner thigh is removed and thus tightened. The skin is incised like a spindle on the inside of the thigh and the separated piece is removed together with a portion of fatty tissue. Occasionally, additional incisions are made in the groin and in a T-shape towards the thigh. The resulting scar is difficult for other people to notice because it is located on the inside of the thigh and the client can pull clothing over it.

Frequently asked questions about thigh lift surgery
General information on thigh lifts
Who is a thigh lift suitable for?
During a thigh lift, excess skin and tissue material can be removed. The operation is therefore suitable for people whose connective tissue has lost elasticity due to significant weight loss and who are now bothered by sagging skin on their thighs.
Where do the scars run after a thigh lift?
The scar from a thigh lift is located on the inside of the thigh. It is usually covered by clothing and is rarely noticed by other people due to its location. It is important to draw and visualize the scars with the surgeon in advance.
What are the risks of a leg lift?
On the one hand, a leg lift naturally involves the classic surgical risks. On the other hand, in rare cases, wounds may not heal well on their own or certain areas may need to be corrected again. Excessive tension on the wound should be avoided by an experienced surgeon so that the suture does not come apart again afterwards.
Procedure for a thigh lift
What types of leg lift are there?
For a leg lift, an incision can be made in the groin area. This incision is more suitable for smaller leg lifts. There is also the curved incision, which runs from the groin crease on the inside of the thigh to the knee. In this thigh lift, not only skin but also fatty tissue is usually removed.
What needs to be considered before a thigh lift?
It is important to stop smoking before the leg lift. In addition, although the target weight should be reached at the time of the operation, sport should be discontinued for this period, as the thigh lift requires a longer regeneration period.
How does a thigh lift work?
A leg lift is a somewhat more extensive procedure for which we usually use twilight sedation. The procedure takes about two to three hours. During the thigh lift, a larger treatment area is used, from which excess tissue material is removed. The areas to be removed must be well marked in advance. At the end of the operation, so-called fixation sutures must be placed in the depths and the surface of the thighs must also be carefully sutured.
Aftercare for a thigh lift
What do I need to consider after a leg lift?
After a thigh lift, the mobility of the legs is initially restricted. In order to shape the tissue well, it is important to wear compression tights. Lymphatic drainage and antibiotics to prevent infection are also important aspects of aftercare. Due to the proximity to the genital area, it is important to ensure that there is no redness or swelling. Otherwise, we recommend that our customers attend the check-up appointments at our prevention center.
Do I have to wear compression garments after a thigh lift?
Compression underwear is certainly an important aspect after a leg lift. After a thigh lift, we recommend that our customers wear compression tights for a few months. Some people decide on their own to wear these tights permanently, as they give the legs an even more attractive shape.
When can I return to work and exercise after a thigh lift?
After the thigh lift, no tension should be exerted on the wound edges, which should heal well initially. You should therefore refrain from sport for 3 months. Depending on your occupation, you can return to work after 2 to 3 weeks.
How long do the results last after a thigh lift?
The results of a thigh lift are usually permanent. It is very rare for new, extensive weight fluctuations to cause sagging skin to reappear in the same area. Normally, however, our customers do not have to worry that the skin on the thighs will deteriorate again to such an extent that the initial situation is restored.
