Further information
Suddenly the day comes when you would like to have a different picture or perhaps preferably none at all.
The little butterfly on the ankle, the Asian characters along the spine, the name of a former loved one on the upper arm: not every tattoo seems to be meant to last forever. To remove unwanted tattoos, the prevention-center uses the world’s first PicoPlus laser – one of the first in Europe! This ultra-modern laser achieves the best results thanks to its unique PressureWaveTM technology. With the PicoPlus laser, the prevention-center has the best laser currently available for tattoo removal.

Tattoo removal
In contrast to conventional laser models, only 6 treatments are necessary on average when using the PicoPlus laser. Success is also determined by parameters such as pigmentation color and depth of the tattoo.
With the laser beams, the color pigments in the skin are no longer simply heated as before, but are broken down by photomechanical processes into tiny particles that can be broken down more easily and quickly by the body – without damaging the surrounding skin.
A clear lightening effect is already visible after the first treatment. How many color pigments are effectively broken down by the body during each treatment can only be determined after around three weeks. During the therapy, a discoloration of the tattoo can be seen, this is due to the different degradation rates of the pigments of a color.
Before & after tattoo removal
The skin must not be pigmented (tanned) for the treatment. You should not go directly into the sun for about 6-8 weeks after tattoo removal. There should be no inflammation or skin disease in the treatment area at the time of treatment. If you are prone to herpes infections, discuss this with your doctor before treatment.
Risks & side effects of tattoo removal
It is normal for the skin to be reddened after treatment, although side effects occur much less frequently than before thanks to the PicoPlus laser.
Punctiform bleeding, to the extent of an abrasion or blistering, may occur after treatment, but this is completely normal. The wound dressing applied by us should always remain on the treated area for at least 24 hours. You will be informed of the possible outcome during the preliminary consultation. However, we cannot give any guarantees, as this would also be dubious.
As with any wound treatment, scars and / or pigment shifts may remain. If you are prone to keloid formation, you must inform us of this.
Experience with tattoo removal
If you have already decided to have your tattoo removed with PicoPlus at the prevention-center Zurich or at least read up on it here, you have found your way through the information overload and have not been misled by false information on the subject of tattoo removal. Many customers often report how difficult it was to find the right treatment and, above all, the right doctor for tattoo removal.

Frequently asked questions about tattoo removal
General information on tattoo removal
Which colors can be removed as part of a tattoo removal?
In general, any color, except yellow, can be removed during tattoo removal, but darker colors are generally easier to remove than lighter shades.
How much experience is needed for tattoo removal?
At the prevention-center we have more than 10 years of experience in tattoo removal. We also had the first picosecond laser in Europe, which is regularly replaced by the latest generation.
Is there a difference between fresh and old tattoos?
The difference between fresh and old tattoos is that some of the older tattoos have already faded more and the color pigments have already reached the surface a little more. The color of a fresh tattoo is much stronger, which is why the reaction to laser treatment is usually stronger in this case.
Can permanent make-up be removed?
An interesting option for the picosecond laser is to use it to remove permanent make-up. However, it must be decided on a case-by-case basis whether the treatment is suitable for this. If you are not entirely sure beforehand, you should first carry out a test before starting the right laser treatment.
Are there any risks or side effects?
After tattoo removal, the treated skin may initially swell or blister, but this risk is significantly lower with the picosecond laser. The combination of different procedures also helps to prevent any scarring or depigmentation. In our clinic, we work with micro needling alongside tattoo removal to effectively counteract the formation of scars.

What do I need to consider before tattoo removal?
Before tattoo removal, it is important that you are not too tanned and that the tattoo is not too fresh.
Which laser is used for tattoo removal?
At the prevention-center, we use the innovative PicoPlus laser for tattoo removal. With its unique PressureWaveTM technology, this laser achieves excellent results when removing unwanted tattoos.
What is the picosecond laser?
The difference to conventional laser systems is that the picosecond laser works much faster and atomizes the colour pigments rather than blasting them. This means that the treatment is much gentler on the tissue and the swelling afterwards is also significantly less. The tattoos usually disappear more quickly and can be removed almost completely.
What happens to the ink during tattoo removal?
During the laser treatment, the color pigments of the tattoo are split into tiny pieces. These are then small enough to be broken down by the body.
How many sessions are required for tattoo removal?
The number of sessions required for tattoo removal depends on the size, age and color of the tattoo to be removed. In general, we require fewer sessions with our innovative PicoPlus laser than with conventional laser systems. We would be happy to discuss the number of sessions required in your individual case in person at our clinic.
Aftercare for tattoo removal
What needs to be considered after tattoo removal?
After the tattoo has been removed, it is important to apply a cream. You will receive this with a bandage at our clinic so that the treatment area is cooled on the one hand and the wound healing effect is optimally supported on the other. In the first week, it is also important that you do not touch the treated area too often and avoid contact with shower gel. The area must not be exposed to sunlight for the entire duration of the treatment.
When are the results of tattoo removal visible?
The first changes to the skin can be seen immediately after the treatment. The skin becomes lighter in color as the laser treatment causes air to form in the upper horny layer. There may be slight swelling and reddening of the skin, which is a completely normal reaction. The tattoo gradually fades from session to session until it disappears completely after the last session.
Is it possible to have something tattooed on a tattoo that has been removed?
If a tattoo has been removed, it is usually not a problem to get a new tattoo in the same place. We often only remove around 50% of a tattoo in our clinic, as customers want a cover-up afterwards and the old tattoo therefore does not have to be completely removed.
