Skin resurfacing with eCO2 Plus™ laser

The eCO2 Plus™ laser is a laser system of the latest generation. It combines two innovative methods to stimulate the body’s own regeneration processes and thus offers the possibility of maximum optimization. The laser combines ablative skin removal, i.e. the removal of the uppermost cell layers, with a so-called fractional technique. In this process, countless microscopic wounds are made to the skin in places, but the areas in between (bridges) are left untouched. This ensures faster healing and fewer side effects than a traditional laser procedure.

Treatment with the eCO2 Plus™ laser takes very little time. Depending on the treatment area (e.g. face), a session only takes around 20 minutes. Another advantage is the short healing time, thanks to which you only have a short downtime – if any at all. There are also hardly any side effects. On the other hand, the first changes in the appearance of the skin are already visible after the first treatment.

Laser treatment of the skin results in the skin surface feeling smoother and looking more even after a short time. The complexion appears fresher, more radiant and more youthful. When the effect has fully developed after a few weeks or months, the skin’s appearance is renewed, including the deeper layers of the skin.

The eCO2 Plus™ laser can be used to treat fine, medium and deep wrinkles, pigmentation irregularities (e.g. age spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation), scars (e.g. acne scars, burn scars), stretch marks (e.g. after pregnancy or severe weight loss) and large-pored skin. Typical areas of application / treatment regions are the face, neck, décolleté and upper arms.

In the three weeks before laser treatment, you should protect your skin from direct sunlight and choose a sun cream with a high sun protection factor (LF 50). Even freshly tanned skin is not suitable for laser treatment. This applies to both naturally tanned and tanning bed tanned skin. You should therefore plan your treatment appointment at our prevention center in Zurich well in advance of your summer vacation. We will also be happy to advise you personally at our clinic regarding appointments.

After the laser treatment, you should cool the affected area and treat it to special skin care, which we will be happy to advise you on. Protect the treatment area from direct sunlight and use a sun cream with a high sun protection factor (LF 50).

Several sessions are usually required to achieve optimum results. The exact number depends on the treatment area and the initial condition of the skin. In our experience at the prevention center in Zurich, we recommend at least 3-4 sessions (more sessions are recommended for particularly deep scars), which should be carried out at intervals of 3-4 weeks. In most cases, the optimum result is achieved after about 6 months.

Before laser therapy, a locally effective anesthetic cream is applied to the relevant area so that you hardly feel anything from the treatment. In addition, the area is continuously covered with cool air during the laser treatment so that the skin does not become too warm.

There may be slight swelling and redness in the treatment area. However, these usually subside on their own within a few days. As a general rule, the more intensive the laser treatment, the more severe the side effects may be. The laser intensity can be adjusted individually, with less intensive treatment requiring more sessions to achieve the desired result.
