Further information

All medical treatments require prior consultation. A personalized estimate can be drawn up following this consultation.

They appear on the thighs, knees and/or lower legs and look like fine, reddish or bluish nets in the skin: although spider veins are medically harmless, they do not disappear on their own and can significantly disturb the aesthetic perception of those affected. Fortunately, there are modern treatment methods to remove spider veins in a minimally invasive way. At the prevention-center in Zurich, we offer gentle and effective laser treatment with the innovative Clarity II laser.

Treatment procedure with Clarity II

Before treatment with the Clarity II, put on eye protection. Although the laser handpiece is only directed at the areas to be treated at all times, the eye protection serves as additional protection against the laser light. Before starting, the skin in the treatment area is first thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Before each laser pulse, we spray cooling spray onto the skin to reduce the sensation of heat. The laser is then targeted at the relevant areas.

The focused light emitted by the laser is absorbed by the red blood vessels in the spider veins. This causes the blood vessels to heat up and the vessel walls are destroyed without damaging the surrounding tissue. The treated areas can then be carefully cooled.

Before and after treatment

Before treatment at the prevention-center in Zurich, seek advice on what you need to bear in mind if you decide to have spider veins removed. This includes, for example, that the treatment should not be carried out on freshly tanned skin and that certain medications should possibly be discontinued beforehand.

Immediately after treatment, the skin in the treated area may be slightly to severely reddened. This is a natural but temporary reaction to the laser that usually does not last long, so the redness disappears on its own within a short time.

Apart from that, you will be fit for social life again immediately after treatment at the prevention center in Zurich and can resume your normal everyday activities. You do not have to plan any downtime. However, we recommend that you do not engage in any strenuous activities such as sport for the first 24 hours after the laser treatment. And please make sure you wear adequate sun protection when you are outdoors.

Frequently asked questions about spider vein removal with Clarity II

How long does the treatment take?

The duration of the treatment depends on the size of the area to be treated. In most cases, however, it takes between 15 and 30 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?

The number of treatments required depends on the size, quantity and color of the spider veins, which can vary greatly from person to person. The number of treatments required to achieve the desired result therefore also varies from person to person. Of course, you will receive specific information on this in a personal consultation before your treatment at the prevention-center in Zurich. Depending on how well your skin responds to the laser treatment, the number of sessions required can be adjusted after your first visit.

Is treatment with Clarity II painful?

No, most patients at the prevention center in Zurich do not experience the laser treatment as painful, but rather describe it as a tingling or prickling sensation in the skin. Therefore, anesthesia of the treatment area is not usually required. However, the sensation of pain is very subjective. We therefore offer local anesthesia before treatment if required.

When will the first results be visible?

The first changes are visible immediately after treatment. The spider veins usually appear much paler or are less visible. In the time that follows, the affected blood vessels gradually dissolve and are broken down by the body so that they are no longer visible. This can take different lengths of time. In our experience at the prevention center in Zurich, the final result is visible after 2 to 6 weeks, in some cases even later.
