As we age, the body’s own production of hyaluronic acid decreases. As a result, the skin loses elasticity and resilience, becomes flabbier and forms small wrinkles. A new and innovative method to counteract this process is the Profhilo® treatment.
Compared to conventional treatments with hyaluronic acid, the concentration of active ingredients is significantly higher with this method. This and a modified form of application can achieve remarkable effects: The skin on the face, neck, décolleté and upper arms becomes visibly firmer and appears fresher and younger. What is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® is an award-winning, minimally invasive method for rejuvenating the skin using hyaluronic acid. A high concentration of the active ingredient is injected into specific points in the area to be treated in order to moisturize this area over a large area. This makes the skin firmer and smoother, wrinkles are reduced and the appearance is fresher, healthier and younger.
How does Profhilo® work?
Unlike conventional treatments, Profhilo® is based on the large-area effect of hyaluronic acid. This means that the injections are not carried out directly under the wrinkles, but rather at specific points. When treating the face, there are five precisely defined points on each side of the face where the injections are made with very fine needles. Other areas can vary, for example, when treating so-called “angular arms”, which are characterized by sagging skin on the inner upper arm, injections are made at seven points. On the neck, on the other hand, ten injections are required, which are also given at very specific points so that the effect can extend over the entire neck. A subsequent massage can be performed to support even distribution.
From these so-called Bio Aesthetic Points (BAP points for short), the active ingredient is distributed evenly over a large area of tissue and can therefore also achieve a more comprehensive effect. This effect consists of supplying the skin with much-needed moisture and stimulating the body’s own production of elastin and collagen.
The treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis at our prevention center in Zurich and takes around 15-30 minutes. The method is very painless, which is why anesthesia is generally not required.
PROFHILO® STRUCTURA
PROFHILO® STRUCTURA is suitable for treating fatty tissue in the face, particularly in the areas of the lateral cheeks and the cheekbone. It prolongs the survival time of fat cells and thus counteracts age-related volume loss in the midface.
Treatment with the PROFHILO® Product Line must not be carried out at the same time as laser resurfacing or medium and deep skin peeling and you should refrain from wearing make-up for 12 hours after treatment and protect the treated skin areas from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures (below 0 °C). It is also not advisable to visit the sauna or hammam during this time. In the first 24 hours after the treatment, you should also avoid physical exertion, sporting activities and massages in the area of the treated skin.

Frequently asked questions about Profhilo®
What advantages does Profhilo® offer?
In contrast to other anti-ageing treatments, Profhilo® is not used to treat specific areas such as the cheeks or chin. Instead, the treatment involves the entire area, for example the whole face, by injecting specific points. The active ingredient also remains in the tissue up to 30 times longer with this method and can develop its effect there over a longer period of time.
Where can Profhilo® be used?
Profhilo® is very often used on the face. However, the method can also be used on the neck and décolleté, on the hands and elbows and even on the upper arms and knees.
How does Profhilo® work?
Targeted injections of hyaluronic acid provide the skin with a comprehensive supply of moisture. At the same time, the treatment stimulates the production of elastin and collagen – both substances make the skin firmer and more elastic, which reduces wrinkles and makes the skin look fresher and younger.
The special feature of Profhilo® is its unique active formula using highly pure and compatible hyaluronic acid, which is particularly stable thanks to thermal cross-linking. This allows it to remain in the tissue significantly longer than other active ingredient variants. It can therefore supply the skin with moisture over a longer period of time and at the same time support the body’s own production of elastin and collagen in the long term. As a result, the treatment restores substances to the skin that have been lost over time, thus slowing down the ageing process.
How long does it take for Profhilo® to take effect?
Hyaluronic acid begins to take effect relatively quickly. However, the best results can be achieved with several treatments. There should be an interval of around 4 weeks between the first and second session. A clear effect is already visible after the second treatment. We recommend a refresher treatment after around 6 months to maintain the results in the long term.
Who is Profhilo® suitable for?
Profhilo® is suitable for all people aged 30 and over who suffer from dry and tired skin and want to do something about premature skin ageing and any small wrinkles that may already exist. If desired, Profhilo® can also be combined with treatments such as fillers, PRP, botulinum toxin or laser treatments.
When can the first changes be seen after Profhilo® treatment?
The first changes are noticeable after just a few days, the result of the recommended two treatments after around 8 weeks. For long-lasting results, we recommend repeating the treatment regularly at our prevention center in Zurich.
Are there any risks associated with treatment with Profhilo®?
Hyaluron is an endogenous substance that is therefore very well tolerated and does not cause any allergic reactions. No other side effects are known either. There may only be slight swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites, as well as other filler-specific side effects, but these usually disappear on their own within a few days. Until then, slight redness can be easily concealed with a little make-up.
Is there any special aftercare after Profhilo® treatment?
No special aftercare is required. To avoid redness and swelling, it is advisable to cool the treated areas immediately after the treatment. In addition, you are immediately fit for social life again and can resume your normal everyday activities. However, you should refrain from going to the sauna or solarium, doing sport and other physical exertion for the first few days.
