Heavy sweating is a problem that affects far more people than is often assumed. It is estimated that a tenth of all people suffer from excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis – pathological sweating – is characterized by increased and uncontrolled outbreaks of sweating. The consequences for everyday life, work and social life are often serious.
At our clinic in Zurich, we offer MiraDry®, an innovative treatment for underarm perspiration. In contrast to classic hyperhidrosis treatment, in which the sweat glands are surgically removed, we work with thermal energy in the MiraDry® treatment. The sweat and odor glands as well as the hair follicles are destroyed by heating. Sweating is reduced with immediate effect. As a positive side effect, hair growth in the armpit region is also permanently reduced.

What is the MiraDry® treatment?
MiraDry® is a non-surgical treatment for underarm perspiration and perspiration-related odors. The treatment involves sclerosing the sweat glands, odor glands and hair follicles in the armpit area. In this way, we achieve lasting results against sweating and the smell of sweat with MiraDry® in Zurich. Hair growth in the armpit region is also reduced.
How does MiraDry® work against underarm perspiration?
In the MiraDry® treatment, we work with a special treatment device that emits heat energy into the armpit region. This permanently destroys the sweat and odor glands and then removes them from the body. The treatment areas are continuously cooled during the treatment so that there is no damage to the surrounding tissue.
What results can be expected after a MiraDry® treatment?
After treatment with MiraDry® in Zurich, an immediate reduction in sweat and odor formation can be expected. As the sweat glands are sclerosed, the formation of underarm perspiration is immediately reduced. As a positive side effect, hair growth in the armpit region is also reduced.
Is treatment with MiraDry® permanent?
The treatment results are permanent, as sweat glands that have been destroyed do not grow back. The destroyed sweat glands are removed via the lymphatic system and then excreted from the body.
There are very few people who do not respond to the MiraDry® treatment. If the desired result is not achieved with the first application, treatment with MiraDry® in Zurich can also be repeated.
How many treatments are necessary?
As a rule, just one application is enough to achieve the desired result. Clinical studies have shown an average reduction in perspiration of 82%. However, it should be noted that the initial situation is slightly different for each person.
Depending on your specific findings, it may be advisable to repeat treatment with MiraDry®. In this case, the follow-up treatment will take place at intervals of around 3 – 6 months. After this period, we will be able to assess how effective the initial treatment was and whether a second application makes sense.
How long does the MiraDry® treatment against underarm perspiration last?
A treatment with MiraDry® takes around 60 – 90 minutes. The treatment requires no preparation and usually does not cause any downtime, so the time required is minimal.
Is the treatment safe?
The MiraDry® treatment is clinically proven and has already been used successfully many times around the world. The procedure is non-invasive and can therefore be considered very safe. We achieve the desired sclerotherapy of the sweat glands solely through controlled heat development. No radiation is used.
Is the MiraDry® treatment associated with pain?
The MiraDry® treatment is largely painless. We also carry out the treatment in Zurich under local anesthetic, so you should hardly feel any pain during the application. Immediately after the treatment, the skin may be slightly irritated, but this should subside within a few days to weeks.
When are you socially acceptable after MiraDry® treatment?
After treatment with MiraDry® in Zurich, your ability to work and socialize is restored immediately. Only physical exertion should be paused for a few days.
Are there any side effects with the MiraDry® treatment against underarm perspiration?
The side effects after a MiraDry® treatment are generally limited to local skin reactions. The armpit region may be temporarily irritated and reddened. We recommend careful cooling to counteract the temporarily increased sensitivity.
It is also possible that swelling, bruising or slight numbness may occur for a short time. These are normal after-effects of the treatment, which should subside on their own within a few days to weeks.
