Mesotherapy is a method that has been used in medicine for many years to heal various skin diseases. It is based on injecting healing substances directly into the areas of the body that need to be treated. The inventor of this method was the French doctor Michel Pistor. Initially, this method was used to treat migraines, various neurological diseases, varicose veins and respiratory diseases, among others. It has been making a comeback since the 1970s, particularly in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Mesotherapy is a non-surgical method for skin regeneration, improving the appearance of the skin, skin rejuvenation, cellulite treatment, stretch mark treatment and in the treatment and prevention of alopecia (hair loss). Thanks to the superficial injections of an active substance, the microcirculation in the subcutaneous tissue improves and the metabolism of fatty tissue increases. The popularity of this method is due to its rapid revitalizing effects, which promote the well-being and satisfaction of clients.

Advantages of mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is a natural, non-surgical method of aesthetic skin treatment in which the skin is supplied with nutrients and moisture by injecting a nutrient cocktail. The targeted introduction of nutrients through the skin barrier allows the effect to unfold in the desired area. The effect of a mesotherapy treatment is long-lasting.

The natural nutrients ensure smoother skin, healthier hair and a reduction in wrinkles and skin imperfections. Mesotherapy has also been a proven non-surgical treatment method in Switzerland for decades.

Mesotherapy - Procedure

At the prevention-center Zurich, we select the active substances individually for each customer and prepare a special mixture. The injections are made by hand using a very thin needle, which automatically regulates the depth of the injection. They are made every 0.5-1.5 cm. The injections are almost painless, the needle does not reach the fatty tissue. The treatment is followed by a short massage.

The best results are achieved by repeating mesotherapy several times. For example, three times at 14-day intervals, then every two to three months. However, mesotherapy is also very suitable for short-term skin beautification, e.g. before an important appointment.

Mesotherapy against hair loss

Mesotherapy is a versatile procedure and combats skin ageing just as successfully as hair loss. Many men suffer from thinning hair and increasing hair loss at a younger age, often due to genetic alopecia, which makes them look significantly older and less dynamic. In those affected, the hormone testosterone causes the hair roots at the back of the head and temples to shrink and eventually stop growing altogether, resulting in unattractive receding hairlines or even baldness.

Mesotherapy effectively counteracts this by applying a special vitamin solution in several sessions: Hair loss is slowed down or stopped completely and the hair is stimulated to grow again. The first results are visible after just a few weeks: the hair becomes fuller and thicker and the scalp also recovers. This also applies to women who suffer from thinning hair or hair loss.

Mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation

Mesotherapy is used prophylactically to reduce symptoms of skin ageing such as wrinkles, skin sagging and thinning. It can be used together with other aesthetic treatments. The appropriate cocktails are used for mesotherapy of the face, neck and décolleté skin. The mixture of revitalizing and regenerating substances (such as hyaluronic acid and multivitamin complexes that stimulate cell metabolism) improves the condition of the skin. After a series of treatments, the skin immediately looks better, small wrinkles disappear and deeper wrinkles become smaller.

Mesolift cocktail

Mesolift – this is one of the treatments for the face. The treatment intensively nourishes the skin and reduces wrinkles. Mesolift cocktails consist of hyaluronic acid – with a moisturizing effect, and polylactic acid – a natural substance in the body with a strong regenerative effect. Thanks to the content of vitamins, microelements, amino acids and nucleic acids, the cocktail quickly regenerates the skin, improving its elasticity and firmness. The effects are already visible after the first treatment. The face appears healthier and radiant.

Hyaluronic acid

It is one of the substances found in the intercellular spaces of the skin. The braided hyaluronic acid chains lie between the collagen fibers and bind water intensively – they act like a “molecular sponge”.

Before mesotherapy

You should refrain from taking blood-thinning medication, such as aspirin, for 7 to 10 days before the treatment. Immediately before the treatment, the affected area can be rubbed with an anesthetic cream.

Risks & side effects of mesotherapy

  • Pain is rare, but can be further reduced by the use of anesthetic creams. Redness and subtle swelling may occur immediately after the treatment and are only temporary. Very rarely, allergic reactions to one of the ingredients are possible. Small bruises are often associated with the previous use of blood-thinning medication such as aspirin.
  • Mesotherapy should be avoided in the case of:
  • Allergies
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding
  • Diabetes
  • Acute skin inflammations, herpes
  • Skin with vascular problems (does not tolerate injections)
  • Taking anticoagulant medication

Frequently asked questions about mesotherapy

General information on mesotherapy

What is mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a very old treatment that was previously used in medicine to inject small amounts of active ingredients under the skin. This allows the active ingredients to have a targeted effect on the treated area. Today, mesotherapy is also used to inject certain active ingredients under the skin to improve the appearance of the skin. These include vitamins, trace elements or even botulinum toxin in diluted form.

How long has mesotherapy been around?

Mesotherapy in medicine is very popular and has been around for a long time. In aesthetics, there are now more products on the market that are used for mesotherapy. Technical innovations, such as LaseMD, in which we use a laser to open the pores, have also been added to aesthetics.

How does mesotherapy work?

In mesotherapy for skin improvement, revitalizing and regenerating substances are adapted to the client’s individual skin condition and then applied to the skin. The mixture of these nourishing substances improves the condition of the skin and after several treatment sessions, small wrinkles disappear and the skin generally looks fresher and younger.

In the case of hair loss, a special vitamin solution is also adapted, which is applied to the scalp in several sessions. This slows down hair loss or, in the best case, even stops it completely, as the hair is stimulated to grow again.

Can it happen that mesotherapy does not work?

Mesotherapy usually always works, but an isolated treatment does not achieve great results. Mesotherapy is much more than a treatment plan consisting of several sessions.

When is mesotherapy suitable?

Mesotherapy is suitable for treating cosmetic skin problems and is primarily used to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin. However, mesotherapy can also achieve amazing results in the treatment of cellulite and stretch marks. In addition to skin treatment, mesotherapy is also used to treat and prevent hair loss.

When can mesotherapy be used to treat hair loss?

Hair loss is not only a problem in old age – many young men in particular suffer from hair loss and the associated bald patches, which sometimes make them look older and more worn out than they actually are. At the first signs of hair loss and also for the prevention of genetic alopecia, mesotherapy can be a suitable treatment method.

What is LaseMD?

The LaseMD is a new development to make mesotherapy more comfortable. By combining the two treatments, we can pre-treat the skin with the laser and apply the substances under the skin more easily during mesotherapy. We have highly effective active ingredients that are able to penetrate the skin and then saturate it from the inside.

What are the risks of mesotherapy?

The possible risks of mesotherapy are limited. The puncture causes minor injury to the skin. This can cause minor swelling, redness or bruising around the puncture for a short time. It is possible that customers may have an allergic reaction to certain substances. It is therefore important that the treatment is carried out in a doctor’s surgery, where it can be clarified in advance and an appropriate response can be made.

Mesotherapy procedure

How many sessions are necessary for mesotherapy?

We generally recommend two to three sessions at two-week intervals for an optimal and long-lasting effect.

Is mesotherapy painful?

We use very fine needles for mesotherapy, which are inserted on the surface of the skin. As a rule, mesotherapy is therefore not painful. We are happy to apply a pain-reducing ointment for the treatment or switch to laser treatment.

Aftercare for mesotherapy

What should I do after mesotherapy?

After mesotherapy, it is important not to expose yourself to direct sunlight and not to return to sport immediately so that the active ingredients under the skin can work first. Make-up should also be avoided for a few hours after mesotherapy.

When are the results of mesotherapy visible and how long do they last?

Immediately after mesotherapy, the skin appears more rested and refreshed. The full effect of the nutrients unfolds after just a few weeks. As the effect of mesotherapy is not permanent, we recommend that our customers repeat the treatment every two to three months.

The effect on hair loss is visible after a few weeks, as the hair appears fuller and grows back more quickly. This effect is also limited and should therefore be refreshed regularly in consultation with our specialist staff.
