Stubborn fat deposits cannot be successfully combated even with the strictest diets or exercise. Genetic predisposition is the cause of excessive fat deposits. The fat deposits are often located where they are particularly visually disturbing. In addition to the overall aesthetic impression, they also increasingly affect self-confidence.

With surgical liposuction, we at the prevention-center Zurich can permanently optimize and remodel your body image. Once fat tissue has been removed by liposuction, it never forms again.

Liposuction is not a question of age. However, the skin should still have sufficient elasticity to be able to reattach itself optimally to the body after liposuction. As fat cells do not regenerate in adults, a yo-yo effect after liposuction can be ruled out and the results of the operation are retained.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure to remove excess fatty tissue. Liposuction in Zurich is the most effective and successful way to make problem areas disappear quickly and permanently.

Advantages of liposuction at the prevention center

  • Years of experience in liposuction
  • Detailed consultation and precise planning of the surgery
  • Natural results thanks to customized treatment methods
  • Compliance with strict hygiene and quality guidelines
  • Frequent reduction of cellulite as a positive side effect of the procedure
  • Outpatient treatment possible

Liposuction in Zurich

Although liposuctioned fat cells are not formed anew, the remaining fat cells store fat again when weight is gained. An increase in the so-called fat cell mass can therefore not be ruled out. This is why liposuction is not suitable for people who are very overweight or morbidly obese.

If the skin is severely sagging, further procedures are necessary, such as a tummy tuck or a tightening of the arms and legs.

A positive side effect of liposuction in Zurich is that orange peel skin is also significantly reduced by removing the fat cells. The liposuction technique also improves the surface of the skin, and orange peel skin (cellulite) is often reduced. The tiny incisions are no longer visible after 3-4 weeks.

Liposuction is scientifically proven to be the best method for getting rid of fat deposits, but it is not suitable for reducing general obesity. Once most of the weight has been lost, liposuction can be considered. Surgical liposuction can be used to permanently remove subcutaneous fat deposits from almost any part of the body, including the face and neck.

In addition to
breast augmentation
and
eyelid lifting
liposuction is by far one of the most frequently performed plastic surgeries. No more than five liters of subcutaneous fatty tissue may be suctioned out per session, otherwise the body is put under too much strain. If this is not sufficient, several sessions must be carried out.

Who is liposuction suitable for?

Liposuction is particularly suitable for men and women who suffer from stubborn fat deposits that cannot be combated by exercise or regular dieting. Men often suffer from fat deposits on the flanks, while women usually complain about excess fat on the thighs or stomach. During liposuction surgery in Zurich, the body image is permanently optimized and aesthetically shaped. The fatty tissue that is removed during liposuction does not form again afterwards and is therefore permanently removed.

Before liposuction

Smoking should be kept to a minimum four weeks before the operation in Zurich. Certain painkillers should be discontinued at least 14 days before the planned operation.

The intervention

Before the procedure, the doctor marks the areas on the body to be liposuctioned. The surgical area is disinfected, sterilely covered and small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas. Thin cannulas are inserted through these tiny 3 mm incisions. A vacuum pump then sucks out the loosened fat cells. Finally, the small incisions are sutured and a tight-fitting bandage is applied. This counteracts the expected swelling. A compression girdle is applied to support the new result.

The duration of the operation depends on the amount of fat deposits to be removed, the type of anesthesia and the surgical technique used. A procedure duration of one to three hours is most common.

Surgical fat removal by liposuction can often be performed on an outpatient basis. Anesthesia is only necessary for more extensive procedures. The final result can only be assessed a few weeks to 3 months after the procedure.

After liposuction in Zurich

The skin mantle adapts to the new contours after liposuction. Additional surgical procedures to tighten the skin may only be necessary if the elasticity of the skin is no longer sufficient. After the procedure in Zurich, a well-fitting compression garment should be worn for at least 1 – 2 weeks. Ultrasound treatment or lymphatic drainage before and after liposuction can also be supportive. The time off work is up to four days, whereby heavy physical exertion or sport should be avoided.

How often can liposuction be repeated?

Liposuction can theoretically be repeated as often as required, but this is rarely necessary at the Clinic in Zurich. The fat cells that are suctioned out during the operation are permanently removed and do not form again. Of course, large fluctuations in weight can cause the remaining fat cells to enlarge, resulting in the formation of new fat deposits. These can be easily removed with a new liposuction procedure.

Risks & side effects of liposuction

After liposuction, the skin’s sensitivity to touch may be slightly reduced. It is essential that the compression garment is worn consistently. In rare individual cases, internal scars may form due to different amounts of blood and tissue fluid accumulating. These usually smooth out again within 6 months. Bruising, redness and swelling also often occur. These disappear completely after 4 weeks. You may also experience slight muscle soreness the day after the procedure. Of course, liposuction also involves the rare risk of dents or unevenness. These can be corrected in another session.

Frequently asked questions about liposuction

General information on liposuction

How much fat can be suctioned out during the operation?

In order not to endanger the health of our customers, we determine exactly how much fat we can suction out during the operation beforehand. As a rule, a maximum of 5 liters can be suctioned out during an operation, which is usually sufficient.

What happens to the skin?

After liposuction, swelling or bruising disappears relatively quickly, only the skin needs a little more time to fully recover. In order to take good care of the skin accordingly, we usually start with lymphatic drainage two to three days after the operation. This allows us to mechanically stimulate the skin to regress. In addition, creams and the right diet can be used to stimulate blood circulation.

Can the liposuctioned fat be reused on another part of the body?

The extracted grease can be freed from water and oil, i.e. cleaned, and then reused elsewhere. However, the amount of fat is limited as the material cannot be passed on 1:1. The fat can also be broken down so that it becomes an emulsion which can then be used for facial treatment. However, the shelf life of these fat cells is significantly reduced, meaning that the volume created disappears relatively quickly.

Does a mammogram make sense?

Mammography is becoming less and less relevant, as ultrasound or MRI are more commonly used nowadays. Mammography can be performed after autologous fat transplantation, but assessment is made more difficult by certain scarring in the tissue.

What are the risks of liposuction?

Liposuction involves the classic surgical risks. Redness, swelling or bruising may occur and the skin may be temporarily numb. There is also a risk of injuring internal organs with the cannula, particularly in the abdominal area, if the procedure is not carried out professionally. Other risks include so-called fat embolism or necrosis, which we will of course be happy to explain to you at our clinic in Zurich.

Liposuction procedure

What types of liposuction are there?

There are different techniques for liposuction in Zurich. All methods start with a tumescent solution, i.e. a diluted local anesthetic, which is injected into the fatty tissue. This inflates the fat cells and reduces blood flow. Only very small incisions are required to suction out the fatty tissue with fine cannulas. Various technical measures can be used, such as ultrasound, water jet or vibration.

What do I need to consider before liposuction in Zurich?

Before liposuction, it is important to maintain a stable weight. In addition, some attention should be paid to the diet before liposuction so that it is easier for the customer to maintain the new body shape after liposuction in Zurich.

What anesthesia do we use for liposuction in Zurich?

At our clinic in Zurich, we usually perform liposuction in a light twilight sleep so that our clients do not notice anything of the actual liposuction.

Aftercare for liposuction

What do I need to consider after liposuction?

After liposuction, it is important to wear a compression garment for 1 – 2 weeks. Lymphatic drainage is also important to remove the water from the tissue. Relatively soon after liposuction in Zurich, patients can resume unrestricted movement and scar care can begin a few weeks after the treatment.

When can I do sports again after liposuction?

When you can resume sports activities depends on the treatment region, the extent of the treatment and your recovery process. As a rule, light sporting activities can be resumed just one week after liposuction in Zurich. After around four weeks, you should be able to resume your usual sporting activities.

Why do I need a girdle after liposuction?

The girdle that you receive after liposuction at our clinic in Zurich should be worn for up to 4 weeks and serves to improve the results of the treatment. The girdle supports healing and stabilizes the area, which then appears more visually appealing.

What to do if dents appear after liposuction?

If dents occur after liposuction, you should wait for 6 months, as the results of the operation will develop over time. If the dents persist after this period, a follow-up correction can be performed. The correction can either be carried out again surgically with an even finer cannula or with a fat-away injection. Volume deficits can also be compensated for with an autologous fat transfer, where fat is taken from another part of the body, processed and injected into the dent.

How long do the treatment results last after liposuction?

The fat that is suctioned out during liposuction is permanently removed. If the lifestyle changes after the operation and the client eats more food, the body may of course put on weight again proportionally. If the weight is kept constant and a healthy lifestyle is maintained, the results of liposuction can be permanent.

Can I regain weight in the suctioned areas?

In principle, you can also gain weight again in the suctioned areas, as fat cells are still present after the treatment. During liposuction, only some of the fat cells are removed and the remaining fat cells can of course increase in size again. However, our customers generally do not put on weight to the same extent as before the operation.
