Further information

All medical treatments require prior consultation. A personalized estimate can be drawn up following this consultation.

The human lips not only fulfill functional purposes, but also make a significant contribution to our facial expression and charisma. Beautiful lips and a full mouth are often associated with youthfulness, attractiveness and vitality. Women in particular desire full lips, which are also seen as a symbol of sensuality and femininity across cultures. There is also often a desire to adjust the lips for a more harmonious overall facial appearance. By injecting fillers such as autologous fat and hyaluronic acid into the lips, customers of the prevention center have access to a low-risk and effective procedure that quickly leads to aesthetically pleasing and natural results.

Who is a lip injection suitable for?

Lip injections with fillers can be suitable for anyone who wants a customized correction of their lips for a fuller mouth. The different motivations behind the desire for lip injections are just as individual as each customer: for example, the treatment can be used to make very thin lips fuller and/or to give the lip area and therefore the entire face more symmetry and harmony. Depending on the type and amount of filling material used, the treatment result is based entirely on personal preference – both natural and subtle increases in lip volume as well as eye-catching enhancements are possible with the help of professional lip augmentation at the prevention center.

Fillers used for lip injections

Customers can choose from a wide range of filling materials, so-called fillers, depending on their ideas. The various materials usually differ in terms of how easily the filler can be broken down by the body. Dr. Köhler discusses the details of the respective methods in a personal consultation with the customer in order to make the right decision about the filler material and shape of the lips for the best possible result.

The best-known absorbable (i.e. degradable) fillers include autologous fat and hyaluronic acid. Filler materials are considered resorbable if they are naturally broken down by the body over time after being inserted into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body within around six months. If you opt for lip injections using your own fat, the durability of the result varies from customer to customer. However, the results of lip injections with autologous fat last at least several years.

Basically, autologous fat and hyaluronic acid are materials that are naturally found in the human body. The autologous fat used for lip injections is obtained from suitable regions of the patient’s body, while the hyaluronic acid used is of animal origin. This means that both filling materials are generally well tolerated. However, as the body absorbs them slowly in the course of natural degradation processes, follow-up treatments are advisable to maintain the result.

The course of lip augmentation

Every professional lip injection with fillers at the prevention center is preceded by a comprehensive medical consultation in which the general state of health is clarified and the exact course of treatment is explained.

Injections with hyaluronic acid usually only take a few minutes. The treatment is carried out by injecting the filling material into the desired areas using a very fine needle. As hyaluronic acid is a natural component of connective tissue, it is very well tolerated during application. In addition, hyaluronic acid can be used to sculpt the lips very precisely, achieving beautiful results that guarantee a natural touch and kissing sensation.

If the customer opts for lip augmentation with autologous fat, the treatment is comparatively more extensive. This is because the autologous fat required for the injection must first be harvested from a suitable area of the body and then specially prepared before it can be injected. Suitable extraction sites are usually the thighs or abdomen. After preparation, the autologous fat is then injected into the lip, thus increasing the volume and creating fuller lips. Regardless of whether the customer has opted for lip injections with hyaluronic acid or autologous fat, the results are visible immediately after the treatment.

After lip injections

Any post-treatment steps depend, among other things, on the individual well-being of the customer. After lip injections, there may be slight swelling in the lip area, but this usually subsides within a few days. Cooling the lips leads to rapid symptom relief. If desired, it is also possible to take pain-relieving medication for a short time. In order to promote successful healing after lip injections have been completed, it is usually advisable to exercise caution when eating and speaking for several days. In addition, care should be taken not to massage the lips or expose them to excessive pressure in order to prevent redistribution of the filler. After lip injections, however, the customer is generally able to resume social activities very quickly and does not have to expect any major restrictions in everyday life.

Lip injections - risks and side effects

Filler treatment of the lips is an uncomplicated and low-risk procedure. Nevertheless, Dr. Köhler discusses the client’s initial medical situation with them in detail. In addition, local hardening, swelling and a temporary loss of sensation in the lips may occur after lip injections with filler. However, these side effects subside after a few days and are no cause for concern for the customer.

Frequently asked questions about lip injections

When are the results of lip injections visible and how long do they last?

The results of lip injections are visible immediately after the treatment. The lips may still be slightly swollen, but this swelling usually subsides within 1 – 2 days. We use well-tolerated hyaluronic acid for lip injections, which is gradually broken down by the body. The results of lip injections therefore usually last for around 6 months. The results of a lip correction with autologous fat last longer, as some of the injected fat cells fuse with the tissue. In this case, the results can be expected to last for several years.

When can I apply lipstick after lip injections?

On the day of the treatment itself, the lips should be taken it easy for the time being. One day after the lip injections, you can apply lipstick again. A lipstick, for example, can be used for lip care.

How often can lip injections be repeated?

Lip injections are a very gentle correction using gentle and extremely well-tolerated fillers. If the effect of the treatment diminishes over time, lip injections can be repeated as often as required.

When am I socially acceptable and allowed to do sports after lip injections?

Following lip correction, there may be temporary swelling of the lips, which will subside after a few hours so that you will be able to socialize again the following day at the latest. In order to achieve a lasting treatment result, we also recommend that our clients refrain from sporting activities for around 48 hours.

How long does a lip correction take?

The duration of a lip injection depends on the treatment technique used. Lip augmentation with hyaluronic acid is completed in around 15 minutes. Lip augmentation with autologous fat requires additional time for the removal and preparation of the body’s own material. The treatment then takes about an hour.
