Brow lift / eyebrow lift

With an eyebrow lift, the eyebrow area is lifted to make the eyes appear more open and alert. If a moderate lift of around 1-2 millimetres is desired, this can often be achieved by injecting botulinum toxin. The substance ensures that the muscle under the eyebrows relaxes, causing them to lift slightly.

If more extensive treatment is required, a surgical eyebrow lift is recommended, which can be performed with or without a brow lift, depending on your wishes and requirements. For a pure eyebrow lift, an incision is made at the upper edge of the brow and a narrow strip of skin is removed before the skin is sutured back together. Alternatively, the incision can be made at the hairline on the scalp.

Taking into account the initial situation and your personal wishes, we will inform you in a detailed consultation about the opportunities, risks and procedure of botulinum toxin treatment.

On the day of treatment, the area to be treated is carefully disinfected and, if desired, a local anaesthetic cream is applied. The botulinum toxin is then injected into the relevant muscle areas under the eyebrows using very fine needles. The treatment takes about 15-20 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis.

To prevent swelling, you can carefully cool the treated areas. Please also follow the instructions for aftercare, which we will inform you about in advance at the prevention center in Zurich.

We will discuss whether a surgical eyebrow lift is the best method for you in a detailed consultation, during which you can tell us what you want and find out more about this treatment method, its risks and opportunities and the exact procedure. Once you have decided on the operation, we will provide you with information on preparation, for example regarding the use of certain medications.

In a classic eyebrow lift, a narrow strip of skin is removed from the upper edge of the eyebrow and the remaining skin is stitched together. The suture is barely visible later if the eyebrows are thick. For thin eyebrows, the incision is made at the hairline of the scalp hair. This means that it is almost invisible afterwards and it is possible to lift the brows from above. The treatment takes place under local anesthesia, twilight sleep or general anesthesia and takes about 1-2 hours.

To ensure a good healing process, you should cool the affected areas of skin if necessary and follow the aftercare instructions that we give you before the treatment.

If you have opted for a brow lift with botulinum toxin, you should avoid lying on your side or stomach for the next few hours and avoid touching or massaging the treated areas. Avoid sport, sauna and solarium visits for 1-2 days after the treatment.

After a surgical eyebrow lift, you should sleep in bed with your upper body elevated for the first few days. You should also make sure that the operated areas do not get wet. Avoid sport for 1-2 weeks after the operation and do not apply any cosmetics to the treated areas for the first 3 weeks.

It takes a few days for botulinum toxin to take effect, so the results of this treatment are visible after about 2-5 days.

After a surgical eyebrow lift, the result is visible as soon as the swelling has subsided and everything has healed. This can take different lengths of time, but for most customers at the prevention center in Zurich this is the case after 2-3 weeks.

The effect of botulinum toxin wears off over time, which is why the results of a brow lift with botulinum toxin are not permanent. For most clients of our prevention center in Zurich, the effect lasts for around 3-6 months. However, the effect can also be maintained permanently by refreshing and regularly repeating the treatment.

The results of brow lift surgery are longer lasting. However, the natural ageing process of the skin can cause them to fade again over time. You can prolong the Brow Lift effect by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and smoking and avoiding direct sunlight.

Botulinum toxin injections are considered by experienced doctors to be a low-risk procedure with hardly any side effects. However, there may be slight swelling, redness or bruising at the injection sites. These can be easily concealed with a little make-up until they subside on their own after a short time. As we use very fine needles for injections at our prevention center in Zurich, there is no need to worry about scarring.

Eyebrow lift surgery is considered a safe procedure. However, as with all operations, complications can occur, such as bleeding, swelling or bruising. However, these go away on their own within a few days. The same applies to temporary numbness. Pain occurring after the operation can usually be treated well with conventional painkillers.
