For many, a full female breast is a symbol of aesthetics and beauty. However, not every woman is satisfied with her breasts and would like to have them enhanced instead. An alternative to silicone implants is breast augmentation with autologous fat. This method has been continuously developed in recent years and enables small to moderate breast augmentation and the correction of minor asymmetries.

Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation with autologous fat
How does breast augmentation with autologous fat work?
In this method of breast augmentation, fat cells are removed from a specific area of the body (usually the abdomen, hips or bottom), processed and then injected into the breast. The fat cells heal there and give the breasts the desired volume and an optimized shape.
Who is breast augmentation with autologous fat suitable for?
Breast augmentation with autologous fat is suitable for women who want a small to moderate enlargement of their breasts but do not want implants or have been dissatisfied with implants in the past. An increase in volume of around one cup size is possible. It is also possible to fill certain areas of the breast with autologous fat, for example to compensate for small irregularities.
The prerequisite for this is that there is sufficient fat in other parts of the body that is suitable for use in the breast. This is usually the case, even with slim clients. The advantage of this method is obvious: the autologous fat is harvested from the area where it may be bothering the client anyway and then – after appropriate preparation – serves as a natural breast implant, so to speak. In this way, you can have two areas that you are not completely satisfied with optimized in our prevention center in Zurich.
How does breast augmentation with autologous fat work?
Before every breast augmentation, we conduct a detailed personal consultation at our prevention center in Zurich. In this consultation, we would like to find out about your wishes and expectations and explain the possibilities of plastic surgery in order to fulfill these wishes while at the same time protecting you from exaggerated expectations. We will explain the specific procedure and what you should bear in mind before and after the operation. Of course, we will also inform you about possible risks during the consultation and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The operation itself consists of two parts and is performed under twilight sedation. In the first step, body fat is removed from an area where there is usually a sufficient amount. Suitable areas are the abdomen, hips or buttocks. The fat is removed using a special cannula. The removed fat is then processed, including being purified and emulsified. In the second stage of the operation, the processed fat is injected directly under the breast skin through small punctures in the fold and areola. The advantage of injecting through many small channels is that the fat cells immediately come into contact with the surrounding tissue and therefore heal better.
After the operation, you should wear a special compression garment for a period of six weeks where the fat was removed. The breast is initially held in place with a light pressure bandage. However, this is usually only necessary for 1-2 days. You can then wear a sports bra. To support the healing of the autologous fat, you should take it easy physically for 3-4 weeks and also refrain from sport. After about 6 weeks, you can resume light physical activity.
How do I prepare for my breast augmentation?
You can contribute to a good surgical procedure if you follow the instructions on eating and drinking and abstaining from nicotine before the operation. In some cases, it may be necessary to stop taking medication some time before the operation. Therefore, please inform us during your consultation at the prevention-center in Zurich about any medication you take regularly, occasionally or as required. You will receive all information about the type of anesthesia under which the operation will be performed during a preliminary consultation.
A prerequisite for any breast augmentation is a recent mammogram with unremarkable findings and/or an ultrasound examination of the breast.
What should I do after breast surgery?
You can support the healing process by wearing the recommended undergarments in the appropriate areas, as with conventional liposuction. However, avoid wearing clothing that is too tight, especially immediately after the operation, as this could put pressure on the injected fat. Allow yourself to rest and avoid physically strenuous activities such as sport or excessive or strong movements of the arms.
How long does the breast last with autologous fat?
Shortly after the operation, the volume of the injected autologous fat decreases because not all of the transplanted fat cells survive. In order to achieve the desired result, more fat cells are initially injected. After around three months, the final shape and size is achieved, which is then just as permanent as other body tissue.
When will I be socially acceptable and able to exercise again after breast augmentation with autologous fat?
After about 1-2 weeks you will be socially acceptable again and can carry out your usual everyday activities. You should refrain from sport for about 6 weeks and then start again with light sporting activities.
What are the risks of breast augmentation with autologous fat?
The use of autologous fat for breast augmentation has become a popular alternative to silicone implants in recent years. This is not least due to the fact that the risks of this procedure are low if it is performed by a qualified and experienced surgeon.
After the procedure, there may be redness, minor bruising, swelling or a slight feeling of numbness in the respective areas of the body. A feeling of tension and/or pain may also occur.
How much does breast augmentation with autologous fat cost in Zurich?
Breast augmentation is a complex procedure that can vary greatly from client to client due to their unique anatomy. It is therefore not possible to give a general cost estimate, as the amount depends on several factors such as the amount of treatment required. We would be happy to provide you with an individual quote at our prevention center in Zurich.
